Founder

Mark Hagerty

A graduate of the University of Washington (BA Business), Mark has worked in construction since 1985. The first 16 years were on the supply side with a local distribution company, focusing on sealants and waterproofing products. This is where he learned and came to understand the importance of the “technical” aspect of the products that we use today. He opened Technical Waterproofing, Inc. in June 2001, with the main focus on sealants and above-grade waterproofing. Since its inception, it has evolved into a full-service waterproofing company with projects ranging from new construction to historical renovation.

President

Andy Schmidt

Andy is the President of Technical Waterproofing and oversees the waterproofing and façade restoration side of the business. After graduating college in May of 2000, Andy was introduced to the waterproofing industry through obtaining a sales role at a local material supplier. There he learned important product knowledge and proper application techniques on a wide variety of waterproofing materials. From there he took this information and experience into project management positions for specialty waterproofing contractors. Andy takes pride in solving complex building issues and extending the life of building structures.

Vice President

Brandon Karimi-Naser

Brandon has always been fascinated with building architecture and design as well as the actual construction of them. This passion drove him to study construction management at the University of Washington before coming to work for Technical Waterproofing, Inc. in 2010 as a project engineer. Brandon is now a Vice President and responsible for managing projects as well as coordinating field operations.

Branch Manager (Oregon)

Brian Klump

Brian grew up in the Pacific Northwest as the son of a carpenter and was always fascinated with construction. He graduated from Central Washington University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology in 2003.

Early in his career, Brian worked building custom homes, taught English overseas, and owned and operated a Chinese Medicine clinic.

In 2015, Brian moved back into construction when he was hired as a Project Engineer for a commercial general contractor; he then went on to join a specialty contracting firm working as a Project Manager. It was here that Brian was introduced to restoration and the unique aspects of working for a specialty contracting firm. Brian’s determination, skill set, and professionalism allowed him to grow into the role of General Manager.

Brian joined the Oregon branch of Technical Waterproofing in the summer of 2023 and brings with him a unique and diverse skill set.

Project Manager

Louis Fox

After graduating from Washington State University with a degree in Civil Engineering, Louis began his career working on large heavy-civil construction projects in his hometown of Los Angeles, California. As an outdoor enthusiast, Louis returned to the Pacific Northwest in 2016, where he worked for a general contractor and gained exposure to a multitude of commercial construction projects. His background has exposed him to a variety of different sites from large-scale high-rise construction to small interior/exterior remodels. Louis became part of the Technical Waterproofing team in the Fall of 2018 and brings a diverse set of skills with him to the Seattle, Washington branch.

General Superintendent

Shane Paullus

Starting in 1996 as an apprentice mason, Shane began his career in the Northwest learning masonry, waterproofing, and construction practices. With a background in welding as well as a foreman for several subcontractors, he came to Technical Waterproofing, Inc. to be a Superintendent in 2017.

Project Assistant

Virna Dixon

Virna is the Project Assistant who works with the President and Project Managers on all things administrative and accounting. She has been with Technical Waterproofing, Inc. since Fall 2018 and appreciates being part of a well-built team. With over 15 years of experience in the construction industry, ranging from new home construction to civil and mechanical engineering, Virna’s focus has been on accounting and project management support. Originally from California, Virna is enjoying her new journey in Washington.

Operations Manager

Bernard Alford

Bernard joined Technical Waterproofing in the Fall of 2020. He brings with him 15 years of experience as a general operations manager, as well as 8 years as a project manager with a large manufacturing company. Bernard currently manages overall operations in the field and our current facilities.

Superintendent (Oregon)

Tim Rea

Tim Rea has over 25 years of experience in the façade restoration industry. He has been in a responsible project supervisory role for 20 of those years. His primary areas of expertise are façade masonry and sealant system restoration. Tim is an International Masonry Institute Historic Preservation Certificate holder, which is an exclusive certification for masonry restoration that very few individuals hold.

Tim has performed façade restoration at the highest level on hundreds of projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. This intimate building knowledge and expertise is carried forward into every project.
